Where to eat in Málaga?
Málaga’s food scene is a dream for food lovers, offering everything from authentic tapas and fresh seafood to standout Italian and Mexican cuisine. You can find all the restaurant locations on the map below or read more about the places we loved (and the one we didn’t).
Every restaurant listed here has been personally tried by us. Since I don't eat meat (only fish) and my boyfriend does, we’ve selected spots where both of us could enjoy a fantastic meal. Save this guide, pin your favourites, and get ready to eat your way through Málaga.

Restaurants in Málaga
On this map you can find all the restaurants in Málaga mentioned in this blog. We have also included pins for the highlights of Málaga and our two recommended day trips: hiking Caminito Del Rey and visiting Alhambra Palace in Granada.
Tapas
Andalusia, Spain is famous for its tapas. Think Patatas Bravas, Pimientos de padrón, Patatas bravas, Gambas al ajillo, Tortilla española, and many more.
We recommend these 3 restaurants for tapas:
1) Casa Lola Strachan
The atmosphere in this restaurant is cozy, energetic and lively. It is a family-run restaurant in Málaga’s Old Town serving traditional Andalusian dishes.
The photos of the dishes seem a bit blank, but the taste was definitely not. One of the best tapas we ate. Reasonable prices.
2) Kraken Centro
We enjoyed a warm evening on the terrace with a beer and sangría. We ordered five tapas, perfect for sharing. Reasonable prices. Ideal for a relaxed night in Málaga.
3) Mercado de Atarazanas
This was quite the experience. I am an introvert and was a bit low on my social battery, so I enjoyed it a bit less at the moment. But when I think back on this place it does give me positive vibes and food cravings. This place offers a real authentic tapas experience among the locals. Very cheap, make sure to check the opening hours and go here during the day.
To skip: Bodega El Pimpi
Very commercial tapas bar with overpriced, greasy and salty tapas. Do not recommend.
Italian
La Ristobottega
If you love Italian food as much as we do, La Ristobottega is a must. It was actually our go-to spot to refuel after hiking the famous Caminito del Rey.
This Italian restaurant is perfect for a romantic night out and also great for switching things up from all the tapas. Make sure to book your table in advance because it is really popular and for good reason. The food and wine are absolutely delicious.

Mexican
Mulita Cocina Mexicana
We got this tip from our friends. Thank you friends! Mulita Cocina Mexicana serves authentic, tasty Mexican dishes in generous portions. On the picture below you can see that you have multiple options to choose from for a quesadilla, taco or burrito. Filling it up with meat or vegetables, adding cheese and or rice. It was a nice dish.
Breakfast, lunch and coffee
Brunchit
Brunchit is a really nice brunch spot where you can sit inside or on the terrace. We had the salmon toast and the eggcelent with good coffee. Highly recommended.
Coffee
I am really picky when it comes to good coffee and only want the best. Here are 3 places to drink excellent coffee in Malaga:
Brunchit
Mia Coffee

I hope this guide helps you find some delicious meals during your stay! Málaga is truly a foodie paradise.
